What's The Most Valuable Resource on Earth?
"The most precious resource we all have is time" - Steve Jobs.
"Life, if well lived, is long enough" - Seneca.
People with lots of money but no time are not rich; they're poor. People who spend all day fulfilling their definitions of the meanings of life are happy. And how couldn't they be? Everyone knows deep down that chasing money is not meaningful or natural; it's what the money can be traded for that is meaningful. Some people need more money than others because what makes them happy costs more. And sometimes, they're right, but other times they are influenced by groupthink and aren't even happy when they obtain their goals.
Suppose we still need money to fulfill specific happiness requirements. In that case, we need assets that go up in value because we need to know that we will have purchasing power in the future. If the money we use keeps getting depreciated, we will want to return to work anxiously. If you have Bitcoin and know it will be worth a lot more in 5 years, you won't be anxious to keep making more.
Did you know the word Leisure in Ancient Greece amongst philosophers meant free time to study? Leisure didn't always mean turning your brain to mush while watching Netflix. It used to represent the free time to be able to improve yourself. Improving themselves and working on virtues made the ancient philosophers happy. They shared their knowledge with others, still being studied thousands of years later.
Think about this to make it obvious - if someone took you prisoner and said you're only free if you give them your net worth, would you let them keep you as their prisoner, or would you pay them to be free? Time is more valuable than money.
So, with assets that go up over time in value, you can spend your time doing the things that fulfill you. What goes up in value over time? We know fiat (fake paper money) does not.
What goes up is a rare physical property like art and land. Bitcoin is also rare; over 91% of them have been mined.
